Dear Family Business Leader, Thank you for your interest in learning about our very special four-day program for family business owners, executives, directors, and their advisors seeking to create high-performing business boards. We have assembled a highly experienced faculty, fashioned a curriculum and learning experience tailored to this subject, and selected a beautiful historic resort as our venue. Here are some more highlights . . . An experienced faculty— Six of our faculty members are experienced family business directors with a combined history of board service to over 44 family businesses, 25 other closely-held companies, and 14 publicly traded companies. One serves as a 3rd-generation family council president, two are tenured management and finance professors, and four are experienced advisors in family governance, leadership succession, and other strategic issues. The faculty holds degrees from Oxford, Harvard, MIT, Yale, Cornell, Wisconsin, Emory, and the Naval Academy. Our faculty chair has a doctorate in education and provides director education services for 400+ family business owners, executives, and directors who are members of the National Association of Corporate Directors. Our keynote speakers and presenters are from highly successful family businesses. A complete curriculum— Initial sessions will lay out the stages of business and board development and walk through board composition, operations, policies, and best practices. Sessions will then address how boards add value through strategy, leadership succession, CEO evaluation and compensation, financial oversight, board independence and relationship to the family. All of this is tied together by a focus throughout on helping participants identify the most important governance improvements needed for individual situations. A great learning experience— Our primary objective is to provide practical knowledge and insights participants can use to gain more value from their boards. Participants will be able to quickly discern their specific business governance needs and to meet others who have dealt with similar challenges. Content will be substantive and fast-paced, with a stimulating mix of expert presentations, case examples, and peer-to-peer discussions. We will also have time for recreation on the beautiful majestic Maine coast and many opportunities for informal conversations. We have much more information on this Web site, so please continue reading. Don’t hesitate to contact us if you have questions and need additional information. Most important, please do join us in June for this unique and valuable program.
